We left Miria two days ago and made the short 10 mile sail to one of our favorite anchorages at Esnedup. We've been reading weather forecasts stating that winds would be 20 plus knots and seas steep and choppy but because it's remained pleasantly calm we decided to relocate where we could have more opportunities to snorkel and fish. And I'm glad we did. After setting the anchor and launching the dingy David (Winterlude) and I went out to one of the reefs behind us in search of fish. With the seas fairly flat we were able to snorkel on the outside of the reef where the coral formations and colors were stunning. And best of all we watched as schools of mackerel swam by us every 15 minutes allowing us the opportunity to spear enough for dinner. With the little bit of fish blood in the water I was surprised that we didn't see any sharks, but that's not to say they weren't in the area.
Yesterday was another calm day which provided more snorkeling opportunities on another reef. We also got a few minor projects done. Today the winds and seas began to match forecast for strong winds and higher seas. We woke up to winds out of the NNE at 15 to 20 knots and large waves crashing over the reefs where we snorkeled the past couple days. It's nice being tucked behind the protection of the reef where the water remains calm but where we still get the strong winds blowing over the wind generator to keep our batteries topped off.
