Back in Nargana

Despite the windy weather we've been having we left Esnedup at noon today and made the 7 mile trip to Nargana with Winterlude. The winds were 24 to 27 knots out of the NE but the seas were only 2 to 3 feet with a slight chop. Surprisingly it was a very comfortable hour and a half sail under reefed main and jib.

David (Bruadair) along with David and Jan from Winterlude are flying out of Nargana on Tuesday for almost a week while I stay behind and keep an eye on both boats. They're flying from Nargana to Panama City where they have a seven hour layover before continuing on to Changanola. After arriving in Changanola they'll take a five minute taxi ride to the border and cross over into Costa Rica. Once across the border they'll take an hour and a half bus ride to Puerto Viejo where they'll spend three nights at Kaya's Place (www.kayasplace.com). Puerto Viejo is a small beach community popular among backpackers and hippies and known for it's beautiful black sand beaches. The reason they're all headed to Costa Rica for three days is their tourist visa in Panama is almost up. Since Panama no longer offers extensions one is required to leave Panama for at least 72 hours and upon return will be issued another 90 day tourist card.

And my job will be easy, kick back and relax and keep an eye on both boats. Maybe I'll get some motivation to polish some stainless or change the engine oil.
