We raised anchor today and went through the small cut into Buena Vista, the bay just to the south of us. We dropped anchor right off of a small tienda where we bought a 25 pound bottle of propane. We have two 10 pound bottles on the boat and one was empty, the other very close to being empty. We had inquired at the marina last week about getting them filled and they wanted $25 a bottle, we've never paid that much to get them filled. There's a place in town we can drop it off at (the same place that the marina takes it to), and $15 a bottle seems reasonable but it takes a week to 10 days to get the bottles back as they send them on the ferry to Almirate (mainland Panama a couple hours away).
So we decided to do it the way we've become accustomed to when we're in remote places. The 25 pound bottle cost $9 and it took only two hours to gravity feed into our two smaller bottles. Much quicker and more economical. Once we were filled we raised anchor and came back to Dolphin Bay. Actually, we're going to start calling this bay Boca Toritto as that is what the local indigenous people call it. Dolphin Bay came about the by the gringos that moved into the bay. And on nautical charts its still referred to Laguna Porras. Its rare to find anyone else that knows all three names but I think its important, just depends on who you're talking to.
